No one really hangs out with them except a dumb jock named Gavin, and the class nerd Jonathan, and poor Danielle is getting nowhere with the popular guy Drew (Jonathon Brandis), even after she and friends accidentally killed his last girlfriend. It’s been a year, and Drew still ignores her - but he doesn’t ignore the new foreign exchange student Katarina (Suzanna Urszuly). Since Katarina can’t take a hint, Danielle begins plotting her downfall. But there’s a slight problem: Danielle and her friends begin experiencing a level of high weirdness in which all three of them rapidly age. This serves to make Danielle more desperate than ever. She’ll sacrifice anything, even Drew, to get her youth and looks back.

Why do illegal aliens kidnap American people in America?

Sharp Rise in Immigration-Related Kidnappings Prompts New Task Force

Number of Cases Has Increased At Least 324% since 2004

Facing a dramatic increase in kidnappings and other Latin American-style violence related to the illegal immigration crisis, County Andrew Thomas has created a new task force within the County Attorneys Office to combat this dangerous trend. So far this year, Valley police have submitted 204 cases in which a victim or victims were kidnapped and held for ransom. If the rate continues, there will be 275 such cases by the end of the year setting a record for Maricopa County.

Submittals of Kidnap for Ransom/Hostage (Highest Ranking Charge)

2006 - 62 kidnapings

2007 - 164 kidnapings

2008 - 375 kidnapings

As the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association has noted, this trend in violent crime has its roots in the illegal immigration crisis. For those cases in which kidnapping for ransom is the highest charge, 74% of

the defendants sentenced in 2007 in Maricopa County were found to be in the United States illegally. The sentencing range is typically between 7 and 15 years in prison. Violent kidnappings and worse have increasingly plagued law enforcement in Mexico and the nations border cities. On October 23, at least 10 people were killed in a gunfight in Nogales. Nogales and other Mexican border cities have become battlegrounds for Mexican drug cartels fighting to control smuggling routes into Arizona and other parts of the United States. To prevent this violence from spreading further into Maricopa County, the County Attorneys Office has reached out to Valley police by assigning specific prosecutors to handle these cases. Attorneys in the Special Crimes Bureau, which already handles the offices human-smuggling cases, have been tasked with cracking down on kidnappers. Three attorneys from that bureau have been designated to work with law enforcement much in the same way the offices Repeat Offender Bureau works with specially trained detectives.

Thomas stated, These kidnappings threaten the safety of neighborhoods all over the Valley. We have to stop this trend before the violence escalates. This problem is yet another unfortunate byproduct of the illegal immigration crisis, which jeopardizes the lives of not only U.S. citizens but also immigrants, legal and illegal.

Thomas was joined by Mark Spencer, president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association. Spencer has called Phoenix the kidnapping capital of America because of the spike in violence associated with illegal immigration.

Here are some recent cases prosecuted this year by the County Attorneys Office:

On January 26, 2008 an 18-year-old Phoenix girl was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home. The kidnappers bound her hands and feet and held her against her will for four days. As the parents tried to negotiate the teens release, a second victim was kidnapped and after his family gave the kidnappers four vehicles he was released. He then led the police to the house where the Phoenix girl was held. Phoenix Police tracked down and arrested the suspects.

Really? Why would you say this kind of thing, when you know American citizens commit this kind of crime several thousands more times a year than illegals? Lets consider the fact that we are ranked somewhat highly in world crime rates. Lets face facts that our citizens, Americans, are often never caught after murdering, raping, molesting, torturing other citizens, and others. What do you say to the families of those who were murdered or raped by travelers from our country? What about the thousands of undocumented, who in the time to cross over our border, disappear, while it is obvious thousands of self-declared "soldiers" shoot wildly into the night at, and literally HUNT immigrants trying to pass through the borders, women, children, elderly. That you don’t care? How would that relate to you, right? You can’t have it both ways. You either frown upon ALL crimes committed to each and every person, illegal or not, or you are discriminatory.
CaroloftheJungle | Jul 23, 2009

I agree with Carol of the jungle. She has made more sense than many people I’ve seen. Just because there are undocumented kidnappers, doesn’t mean they are so because they are undocumented. I’ve seen undocumented saints and undocumented scum. Funny isn’t it. It’s all about perception. To us, undocumented immigrants are terrorist, pure concentrated evil, yet we fail to look up our own history. Bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Chinese Exclusion Act. Japanese Internment camps. Zoot suit riots, instigated by white supremacy. The murder of Emmett Till. Segregation. Yeah, undocumented immigrants are terrorists, evil satanists, murderers, criminals. Judge people by their actions not because of their status, race, gender, etc. Thumbs down me. I’d rather be right and truthful than dishonest and hateful.

how much $ could you save if you grow your own food?
Is there anyone here who grows over 50% of what they eat? I am wondering if growing my own food would make a significant impact in my grocery budget.
If you do grow your own food, what kindof food do you grow and how much? What kind of foods do you still have to go to the grocery store for?

I believe you have to sink some money into growing your own food, i.e. land, fertilizer, machinery, etc. So I think that any money that would be saved from spending at the grocery store would be offset by the cost of raising your own.

 Bunny Lebowski | Jun 20, 2007

Unfortunately, it would take alot of time and money to cultivate your food, so you’d be better off getting a second job and purchasing the food… especially since US farmers are heavily subsidized.
006 | Jun 20, 2007

0$ Its much cheaper to buy what you need and cook it at home, itstead of eating out, but …If you lived in a very rual area you almost would have no choice
tank_boogersmom | Jun 20, 2007

Well of course it will save you money. And fresh food always tastes better! Right now I only grow potatoes, tomatoes, peas and lettuce (lack of garden space) but if you have the space to do it.. why not. I also suggest getting a composter…the soil it makes will make your garden sing with joy..good luck lot_a_trouble | Jun 20, 2007

When my family was young I had a vegetable garden several years in a row. If you like gardening it can be very rewarding. It takes a lot of watering and a lot of work for the amount you gain. What I found was that when my beans were abundant they were at the grocery store really cheap. If you consider time spent it costs you more. Two of my favourites were snow peas and tomatoes. They were worth it.
alice | Jun 20, 2007

I would say that on a good year I grow about 25% of my food. Mostly eggplant, tomatoes, squash (3 or 5 types), basil, onions, peppers, sage, potatoes, and cucumbers. This year I have a pineapple plant and grapes. There is also an apple tree, a Bartlett pear tree and blackberry bushes in the woods near my house. There are black walnuts trees as well, but I leave them for the squrells. I also try to grow lettuce, but the rabbits eat that. About half of what I grow is frozen and used in the winter.
I still have to go grocery shopping for non regional fruits (oranges, lines, lemons), carrotts, radishes and lettuce (see above.) Along with grains and dairy. But I just found someone who has a few goats and I might be able to get some butter from them….
After the first two years of buying supplies to "build up" the soil the costs has about evened out. But I also mulch all veggie matter year round so I don’t have to buy top soil.
Start small with some indoor planters and see if you have the patience.
speranzacampbell | Jun 20, 2007

im sure you could save thousands a year,if youre a big fruit/veggie eater… think about how expensive tomatoes are, or what about oranges! if yo grow your own, you only pay one time to buy the seeds, but gardening is hard work yes i do know some people that only eat what they grow ( hes a raw vegan) he is very poor, so it obviously doesnt cost him much to eat what he grows!

Noboby has yet mentioned the health benefits of growing you r own food. Not only do you get some great exercise but you have healthy foods that haven’t had artificial fertilizers and pesticides used to grow them.It is some work to keep your garden weeded and watered but you get the best tasting food in return. Here’s a link to give you some ideas to grow your garden the natural way.

What is happening to the America I once knew?
I noticed people in America are becoming more and more selfish. They go after whatever they want with no consideration who suffers for it. I’ve noticed this growing trend with many famous people in the news. In my own personal opinion the biggest jerk in the country right now is the Weatherman. He always wants it to be rainy and cold and I’m tired of it. Why can’t he make it sunny for us, since that’s what most of us want? Every morning he dictates what the weather is with no regards what other people want. I think he works for Faux news because no one can be that evil except someone from Faux news. Keith Olbermann today said that the Rethuglicans are trying to control the weather to make the noble Al Gore look bad. In other news I heard that Bobby Jindal kicked a dog and Rush Limbaugh said that Mexicans should die. Were is this country going?

And that’s when things REALLY start to go wrong. The unexpected arrival of an opportunistic young gardener and Ian’s impatient mistress only serve to complicate the crisis even further, while somehow forcing Louise and Ian to reckon with their past and realistically deal with their future.

How do you get a child to eat? Concerned!?
I’m sorry this is going to be a little long.. but we are pretty concerned… I thought this might be a good place to post t his on top of parenting.. to get some different views..

My stepson is one of the pickiest kids I have ever met when it comes to eating. There are literally only 3 or 4 things he will eat.. besides junk food, candy, chips, etc. He will eat peanut butter with no jelly, chicken nuggets and fries, grilled cheese, apple sauce, pizza with no toppings or sauce just crust, and he’ll eat mashed potatoes and corn occasionally.. and they have to be together, and mac and cheese if it’s in the little kraft instant bowls. Now with these things.. they all have to be cut certain ways.. and can’t be in any other form.. like he won’t eat the same kraft mac and cheese if we make it from the box.. has to be in the container, only kind of cheese he’ll eat is cheese slices.. and he’ll eat honey nut cheerios. That is the extent of it.. unless it’s cookies and candy. We know his mother gives into him and let’s him eat junk all day long.. she says "he’s just a snacker".

I’m afraid he isn’t getting the nutrients he needs. He will literally starve himself and hold out til snack time or he gets what he wants. He never eats any of the lunches at daycare they tell us… He won’t eat anything I cook for dinner unless it’s one of the above items… and even then you never know. We always try to give him something.. so he gets something in his tummy. We’ve tried everything…. if you put the plate in front of him.. he’ll sit at the table til we’re done and eat nothing… even trying to not let him have anything else til the next meal if he doesn’t eat. Nothing works. We think most of it comes from the habits at his moms.

We have them on the weekends and I always try to make lunches for them that he will eat.. then cook something good for dinner and try to include mashed potatoes and corn and apples so he’ll eat… trying to get him to eat healthy.. not giving him any junk food unless he eats his other food… we try to please him to some extent because I think he’s still to young to really understand the whole concept… like I said he just holds out til later.. We can’t force him to eat.. he will throw a fit and scream like he’s terrified of it as if it were a terrible monster or something!

But it’s getting pretty bad… this past week he’s been acting very off. Last weekend he wouldn’t even eat the lunches I made him.. things he normally eats.. He is 4 and is getting to the point where he won’t take naps anymore.. his younger brother is a sleeper and will always take long naps.. and most the time he just lays there for a bit til we just tell him to go ahead and get up. But last weekend, he was sleeping like crazy.. longer than his brother even.. and he’d wake up all lethargic acting.. yawning.. last Saturday night… at dinner.. I made him a plate and he wouldn’t eat at all.. he just laid his head on the table.. and acting like he didn’t feel good. I asked him if he was ok.. he said yes.. but he wanted to lay down. He felt a little warm… but nothing major. We asked him if his tummy hurt.. he said no.. he’s usually very honest when he feels bad. I gave him a little childrens motrin since he felt like he had a little fever.. and he perked up a bit… but he went to bed that night with no fight.. and slept very well.. a bit unusual for him! He acted that way again Sunday.. wouldn’t eat hardly anything.. but acted fine.. wanted to play games and go to church and everything. But, by evening he was acting the same way. I ended up giving him a pb sandwich just so he would get some protein and it helped him a bit.

Monday he went back to his moms.. and we didn’t hear anything from her all week.. my husband picks them up today. She texted to let us know that the daycares were closing early because of weather.. so he called her to see what was going.. and she told him that she picked him up already because the daycare called and said he was freaking out.. just not acting like himself.. he’s not throwing up and he has no fever, just acting strange.. she said he came home and went to sleep.. she went on to tell him he’s kinda been acting that way all week. Very similar to last weekend. He’s constantly tired and acting "off". Very lethargic. I’m starting to think it’s his nutrition… he’s not getting what he needs.. he almost never eats.. probably the equivelant of 1 meal a day.. spread out over the day.. I know she lets them eat junk all the time. So I’m just curious what others think of this.. and what you would do or if any of you have experienced anything like this?

I’m sorry it’s so long.. but any help would be greatly appreciated.. It seems like it’s getting worse.. and it seems like it’s starting to effect him badly. Do you think I’m right in thinking this? Is there anything we can do? Let me know what you think… thanks so much!!
We have tried the starving method… and it doesn’t work with him. We tried it for months.. it’s getting to the point where he is starving himself.. and almost making himself sick.. so.. it’s hard to know what the right thing is to do. I’m sure his behavior this week is due to the lack of nutrition.

All the scientists and dieticians say targeted weight loss is not feasible, especially in the waist and belly places, but I managed it with colon cleanse. I appreciate they say that pills do not work, nevertheless they sure worked for me, and they have been featured on CBS News too. There is a free trial happening currently at http://hatits.myinshape.info , why not check it out, what is the worst that could happen?
Brooklyn | Feb 05, 2010

Do what my parents did to me….let him starve if he’s that picky. I know it sounds cruel, but it’s a VERY EFFECTIVE way. I don’t mean starve him to death, or all day, but let him be hungry for a while and tell him you’ll make him what YOU are going to make, not what he wants. He will eventually come around to understand this and eat whatever you make.
OMG | Feb 05, 2010

I would say to take him to a deitrician and go from there. Maybe try descising his food like putting i don’t know in mashed potato some kind of thing to mix in with it that can be disguised and try giving him nutritious smooothies for drink so he gets his fibre. I would reccomend a dietrician or a nutritianist though and also speak to his mom again but be slightly more firm. The dietrician/nutritianist will help with this though.
I'd choose Stark | Feb 05, 2010

Sounds like more of a behavioral issue than just being a picky eater. I would stop making meals a battle by making it fun. Since he’s the stepson, I would have dad do the cooking and let his son help. Not all the foods that he likes are that bad so include them but see if he would like making pizza or veggie monsters. If he throws a tantrum, make that behavior the issue not him. Take away something that he likes for a short period of time. Also, he should see a doctor about the lethargy. It’s nice that you are concerned about him.

What to engrave on a man's wedding band?
My soon to be husband and myself are big into hunting and fishing. I just ordered his ring yesterday (which has ducks and cattails on it) and I can have something engraved on the inside. I would to have something to do with us and hunting as well, but I have no idea what to do! I really like hook, line & sinker if the ring had something to do with fishing, but I am looking for something more towards hunting. I likes ducks, dogs & decoys, but that really has nothing to do with him and I getting married…..so do you guys have any suggestions?!

why did i have this dream? please help me?
i have been happily married for several years. i have never been unfaithful to my husband but he cheated on me before we got married. i got over it and forgave him. he has been true to me ever since.

there is this very handsome guy at my kids school who I feel a huge attraction to. ( i know i have issues) we have never talked to each other but he sometimes flirts with his eyes and does things to me that lets me know he likes me. i will never be unfaithful to my husband.

the dream: me and the guy were alone together and we were being kinda close. not having sex but just laying down holding each other, and i guess talking about good things like being together or whatever.

what does this dream mean?

it may mean that u and your husband weren’t meant to be so u should divorce with him and marry that otther guy but plz think about my answer i am only in elementry school
Dandoon | Feb 03, 2010

this dream sounds like you are consciously or subconsciously contemplating a big change in your life. this could be very good if it takes you in a positive direction! however be aware of consequences to you and those around you that this change may bring about. good luck!

It sounds to me like infatuation. Even with the limited information given in your post, I could almost guarantee that leaving your husband for a ‘flirt’ would be highly regretted.
